The Returning Muse

I never meant to stay a teacher and here I am in my 5th year. Actually a bit amazing. But this really isn't about teaching.

My creativity has been stunted, deadened by circumstances (which I may go into later....or not) and by exhaustion. My energies have been directed toward surviving in this profession. But lately tendrils of creativity have been uncurling, paintings have been appearing in my mind, the touch of my brushes on paper or canvas is no longer rote, something I think I have to do, but rather a joy. It is exhilarating. I have lost some things in these past years, but I can see other possibilities. My dear husband (who encouraged and badgered me to continue my painting) is a constant support, so I am very lucky in that regard.

Here is a painting I completed one day while my students were working. No title as yet. Suggestions?
